USNWC BYOB 2025

TRAINING LEAD-UP

Tuesday, Oct 7:

18A "Upper Body Prep" in 21:51 & "Lower Body Prep" in 17:29, then HDT IR30-31.1.1 (arms and core) in 43:34

Wednesday, Oct 8:

Date Night Yoga & 5 min Full Body Stretch with Adriene

Thursday, Oct 9:

Tested my team's USNWC Build-your-own-boat for float-worthiness and safety.  I didn't take part in building the boat, but I was a last-minute add to the paddling team.

For the float test, we were on still water and just had to paddle out to a buoy and back.  We sat on the sides for this, like you do while rafting, but for the real thing, we'd be all the way in the boat and hope for the best.

Afterwards, to take advantage of already being there, I rucked the USNWC parade loop and Jackrabbit trail with a 30#RPC wearing still-wet MACV2s.  I covered 3 mi in 1:10:43.

Friday, Oct 10:

Glute and pec PT v1 in 24:11, then HDT "Baba Yaga" 30 min AMRAP with 3 rounds and 8 reps with a 40#SB, which felt pretty good.  Then, I did the GORUCK "Vested DT" with a 40#SB and 20#WV in 5:42, then I did a 2:30 6 in hold with a 30#RPC as a finisher.

BYOB

This was the day of the BYOB comp.  The venue was packed with spectators.

There is a side-contest for best themed boat, so many were in costumes.  Even the safety brief must've been a sight for onlookers to behold!

We made it intact, which is more than quite a few other teams could say.

Our boat wasn't the coolest looking, but we had fun!  A good group of people from my company came to watch the two boats that we were running.

(the other boat from our company)

I happened to see a helmet that had a GoPro mount, so I got to take footage of our run.

I was sore and sleepy today, so afterwards, I just did Flow - Day 19 | Ride & Home - Day 4 | Activate Yoga with Adriene.
