Saturday, Aug 8:
A quick 5am workout back in CLT before heading off to Winston-Salem. Did HDT 19.6.2 (arms) with 37 min of PT plus a 7:07 slick run, followed by HDT 19.6.3 (core) with 45 min of PT plus a ruck in 11:24 with 30# with the Altra Torin PLush.
Indian food is one of my favorites. The intensity and complexity of the flavors...
At noon, I went on a slick walk around downtown WS with the fam. It's fun to explore a new city. If I get to visit more often, I may get to know the city even more. It would be fun to live in a completely different environment for a while. Who knows how many chances I'd get to try something like this, since long-term remote work isn't normally something I can do.
My sister made a lemon ginger shot... I don't remember what else is in here. Maybe ACV.
After dinner, we walked a little bit of Salem Lake, which has a wide and flat trail around it. The full loop is 6-7 miles. It would be nice to be able to run here in the mornings in the summer.
We went to Quarry Park at sunset. It's pretty there, although I wish there was a little more trail to explore there.
My sister likes to play board games to relax. I made a bonus game where I hid the rope somewhere on the Clue board for her to find. Twice, she was nearly stumped.
We also traded Pokemon.
Sunday, Aug 9, we went to Hanging Rock State Park. There's a little trail that goes down to a waterfall. On the way there, we saw a bunch of weird dome-shaped spider webs. I had never seen anything like it before, and they were everywhere. The dew clung onto the strands.
My sister taught me a cool trick with the "Live" photo feature on iPhones, where you can use the 'Long Exposure' setting to make the waterfall or anything moving have that flow effect.
We then took the longer, more technical hike up to the rocky overhang.
In the evening, we went to an unroofed rec area of my sister's apartment complex for some ping pong.
More games at night!
Back in Charlotte...
Tuesday, Aug 11:
Scored a 300 on the APFT, with 49/45 pushups, 77/76 situps, 14:08/15:54 run. 322 on the extended scale. My core and shoulders have been sore from the last 2 HDT workouts, in a good way.
Wednesday, Aug 12 -
Back in CHS, took another walk at the beach in the evening. We ended up playing a funny game. My dad said that my sister, he, and I would have 30s to pick their favorite object from the beach where we stood. Then, we sent a picture of the three objects to our mom who was in Taiwan, to see if she could correctly guess who picked what. What do you think?
My mom guessed right! My sister would pick the cute little thing. I would pick something weird like the claw. My dad would pick something more elegant like the crab top.
Final sister time for a while...
Thursday, Aug 13:
HDT Pre-18.IR.2.1 (legs & core) in 45 min, plus 3 min high plank at the end.
