Pre-Holiday Mammoth Prep

I'd be in Colorado for the holidays, so I had to squeeze in a lot of Mammoth prep work before I left.  I had to finish getting my gun velocity to settle, and then I had to start collecting dope.

Monday, Dec 9:

A visit to Christmastown USA with my parents.  I didn't ruck, though, since I had done a lot over the weekend.

We went into the town, this time.  I'm not sure if all of this was there in previous years, but I had never noticed it.  It was nice.

Tuesday, Dec 10:

18A "Lower Body Prep" in 22:23, 30 min "Holiday Ride" on the Peloton with Cody Rigsby covering 9.3 miles and 298 cal with out-of-saddle and in-saddle climb intervals.

Wednesday, Dec 11:

30 min Intermediate Power Yoga & Day 27 - Strong | MOVE Yoga with Adriene, since I was hungry after work, and my Garmin Fenix 7 recommended that I take a rest day

Thursday, Dec 12:

18A "Upper Body Prep" in 21:33, HDT 48.1.1 (ARMS) in 35:33 wearing MACV1s due to the 4x400m rucks that the workout involved

Friday, Dec 13:

Dropped my parents off at the airport

Glute and pec PT v1 in 27:20, HDT 48.1.3 (legs) in 54:30 using GORUCK Rough Runners for the ruck runs.  They felt comfortable.

Saturday, Dec 14:

Zeroed and chronoed, while testing out a new brand of re-sealable hand warmers.

Did positional work from the top of a spool barricade style doubling kneeling, and from modified prone from the table.

I did some build and break, too.

Having gotten to 200 rounds through this 6GT barrel, I coulf now go to the KD range to start getting dope.

I figured out what I needed for the truing bar, which, unfortunately, didn't match up with what I expected to need based on the BC that I had selected, and my velocity.

I continued to gather data, though, and I'd figure out how to modify the variables to get the outputs to line up with reality later on, in consultation with more seasoned shooters.

While checking the flag, I took the opportunity to compare that to Kestrel-detected winds, which was kind of neat.

I did a little more dope collection, followed by 30 min of dry fire practice from a variety of positions.  The wind was tough, and my dope was still iffy, so I didn't want to waste ammo when I could get some good experience with the gun dry.

Sunday, Dec 15:

Yoga Wash - Detox Flow in & Healthy Body Yoga with Adriene... both were excellent after doing an HDT legs workout

Monday, Dec 16:

Did 3.5 miles in 1:16:13 with a 40#WV around the neighborhood wearing the Altra Torin Plush.  It was a nice recovery ruck, and I looked for good Christmas light displays.

Tuesday, Dec 17:

Checked zero on the AR15 that had the QD Optic run amuck at Operation Shooter.  It was still OK.  I don't like knowing that it was once bad, though... I don't have as much trust in it anymore.  QD seemed like a good idea when I first got it... I figured that I could remove it easily and switch to irons, if something went wrong with the optic.  I obviously didn't do that at Op Shooter, since I didn't realize that it was optic/mount-related, so I guess that idea didn't go as planned.  I don't swap on the fly, since I have dedicated guns for different sighting setups.  I guess bolted on options would've been best.

I also got a new Holosun on a new CZ up and running, since I didn't trust the old Holosun on the old CZ to stay bolted in properly at Mammoth.

So many gun changes right before Mammoth!

Wednesday, Dec 18:

Glute and pec PT v2 in 32:07, then "My Invention+" in 52:09.  Afterwards, I did 2.5 miles in 57:59 with a 50# ruck, to get some time under weight while I could, with MACV1s.  I didn't plan to bring a ruck to Denver.  I'd have a 26L GR2 for travel, but I wouldn't bring a plate, and I didn't really plan to stick random weight in the ruck and get it all sweaty.  It wasn't going to be a super long trip, and a taper and a bit of rest isn't a bad thing, either.
